For me, BooM was an interesting experience, it was worst that i hoped(maybe because OZORA was so perfect ), but I still had a wonderful time, the place was amazing, the people enjoyed themselves, and we danced, and walked, and discovered the wonders of that huge area.
Here's how I saw the festival :

Kurz und knapp:
So 18:00 Uhr rechnet.
- Die Deko ist lasch ausgefallen und sah all die Jahre zuvor besser aus.
so das wars der Bericht kommt spät aber er kam....
wie hieß es doch so oft auf dieser Party:
AMAZING, GREAT and WONDERFUL

So is ja alles eigendlich schon geschrieben worden.
Wer weiß, vielleicht in 2 Jahren wieder

Hi!
Boom was amazing! It was really an experience of a live-time.-Thanks to all the people that spend all their time and gave all their love to this amazing event-to let it happen.
Yes there have been big problems getting into the boom.-but having to walk all the way from Idanha Nova to the festival-I realized how much useless stuff I was carrying-and that changed my mind deeply.-Although the simple living in a tent -showed me how blessed we are to live in europe-and that we have everything we need in our homes.--Think about other people!-They don´t even have access to clean wather, food,or a save home.Boom really changed a lot in my personal thinking.- Instead of claiming the world and the governments how worse the enviromental situation got..I start looking first at my personal behavior.-How can I change for the better world that I want?I think that was the main inspiration that boom gave us all.-
If we want to change the world-we have to start with us and our environment!
-Yes I think there are things to improve on the festival.-And I really would love to participate the next time -to help the amazing people that built boom!
-I experienced Boom as an amazing melting pot of cultures and good vibes from all over the world.I never saw people arguing or fighting during the whole week.
And I really think it was good that they didn´t sell any hard alcohol!
The music in the night was really to dark.-Everybody I talked to said that.
-If you boompeople really think thats necessary than PLEASE: have a second floor during the night with psycheadelic trance and progressiv trance---please- and not a second chill out like there was at groovy beach.-
-Except in the early morning when you played there nice electro.-danceable!
All my love to the amazing people from the boom!
Hope to see you again at the next boom!
-P.S.: I´m looking for a guy name "Jake" from San Francisco- we sat next to eachother in the boombus.-If you read this-please write!

Hello everyone,
Below The official Post Boom Newsletter
Love & Light
*GK*
----------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- -----
Boom Festival 2008 Newsletter - Post-Boom
Processing. Assimilation. Maturation. These cognitive processes have been our main activities since the ending of Boom 2008. We took a self-motivated pause on our communications to understand all that we faced during the Boom 2008 edition. In the meanwhile we read a lot of forums, laughed on YouTube and were delighted while looking at FlickR. It’s now time for us to restart; manifesting our belief in participatory democracy, we’ll speak with an open heart about the downturns of Boom 2008 as a will to improve on following editions. Boom 2008 is, nowadays, a memory of the recent past although it is still a vivid experience in the mind of thousands of people. A new phase is now beginning, the post-Boom…
A Nightmare Called "Entrance"
We’ve all seen horror movies. What turns them into horror is the way the scenes trick and play with the unexpected. Be it the “Exorcist”, “Poltergeist” or “The Night Of the Living Dead”, it’s always the unknown that leaves the horror element. Well, it was this unexpected situation that created “The Nightmare on Boom Street” :-). People were waiting for up to 72 hours at the entrances of Boom 2008. We were not sleeping for almost two days.
The Boom participants began to arrive way before Friday August 9th. On Monday 11th there were almost 20 000 people waiting at the gates to get in. Queues of cars reached 14 km. Some people started the party both in the pre-parking and on the main roads; while some other people were getting mad. Like us! It got even worse when our informatic system (that was developed by some engineers to process the barcode of the tickets) broke down. That meant an even slower pace for people getting in as the tickets needed to be hand processed.
Then the geophysics: Boom is held on a peninsula with tiny access, actually the road inland permits only one car at a time as it is 4 metres wide. Limited geophysics, a collapsed informatic system and an avalanche of people (that we didn’t expect) – what a scene! Another scene in the so-called “entrance nightmare” was that the local authorities didn’t know how to manage such a huge traffic jam. The local authorities usually deal with a population of 5 000 and suddenly they had more than triple on site.
Yet magic was created. The first sounds seeped changed invaded for seeped into the Boomscape and the nightmare had its catharsis. Queues were forgotten and the madness of the entrance vanished.
A Meeting Of Subcultures
We all know that Boom was born out of the psychedelic trance subculture of the 90s. Since then we’ve been feeding this movement in a genuine manner. However the world has changed and each one of us has new causes. Art has different meanings and goals thus events were created to support the different art scenes. Boom has been acquiring new vocations and 2008 was the year where Boom made itself a unique meeting point for alternative subcultures. One of the reasons for the attraction of new attendance was the consolidation of the amazing garden-iesque Sacred Fire stage, the novel inclusion of the Theatroom and the Groovy Beach. Along with the projects on environmental sustainability, Boom opened its scape, yet keeping the same base from the days of 1997: to be independent and alternative of the mainstream.
A Chaos Named Caravan Park
Caravan park was somehow chaotic. Our main guidelines on the caravan facilities were that we concentrate more efforts on the people that had no facilities at all than on the caravans. Most caravans have toilets, showers and kitchens already. However we do not want to minimize the importance of caravans and so we did put some facilities. The main fault was that we never thought that there would be such a huge attendance of caravanists on Boom. That led to a lack of toilets, cleaning and shower facilities for the caravan park. This was a major problem that we don’t expect to repeat.
The Now Famous Boom Bug!
Some people already call it the, ‘Boom bug’. The fact is that there was a huge amount of people that got symptoms such as diarrhoea or headaches. Some linked it with the waters and other to the air. The true reason is that a virus that causes these symptoms is assaulting Portugal. When people are dehydrated, tired and with possible heat stroke, they become susceptible to viruses. This particular virus was transmitted by the air therefore it was impossible to control. Even our teams got affected by it!
A Sincere Silence…
The festival was stopped for 10 minutes on August 16th. We were all extremely shocked when a French man died due to heart attack (natural causes confirmed by autopsy). It was the first time ever that someone passed away at Boom. Our sincere wishes for a peaceful rebirth to our brother!
Why No Swimming?
One week before Boom started the local health authorities recommended avoiding bathing in some areas of the lake. The reason being that there had been abnormal animal farming procedures around the lake in the previous two years. Here we have one example of the current paradigm of overproduction of the land, in this case with negative consequences to Boom.
Boom Sold Out
On August 3rd we announced that tickets were not sold out. On Monday August 12th we placed a posting on the Boom website that tickets were sold out. Unfortunately we couldn’t allow any more people to get in. The main reasons were: tickets were limited; we wanted people to have comfort inside; we didn’t want overcrowding thus the collapse of infrastructures; we wanted to keep the quality of the festival.
We had an attendance of 25 000 people from 85 countries and we estimate that around 10 000 people were still trying to get in. We apologize to all people that didn’t get the chance to enter into Boom, but we’re sure that people will understand our reasons.
The Future…
Keep updated with the Boom website for news, videocasts, info and our next projects. Please send us your feedback to: info@boomfestival.org.

the little place nearly collapsed from all the people. that 40 000 people, pushed into a single road, have to wait, is obvious. boom people always try to improve bad facts from the past. that food-dealers make prices like ripp-off is not the fault of the organizers. therefore, you find a community kitchen to cook, where we had lots of fun and good, normal priced food from the super-market. if the people would have looked a little bit around, they would have recognized that there are several little super markets in idanha-a-nova. the same for multibanco machines, there are four in the city, but the people all went to one, next to the other. to face problems on boom is more like a problem of preparation than of the organizers, if you still think, that there is made a big profit out of everything, you have never organized a big thing by yourself.
the music at night was awful and darkest psy, but in the morning and day time, it was great, but during the night there were alternatives as well. groovy beach during night and also day, with funky-tunes and everything. if someone complains about ticket prices of 160,-, they should buy in presale for 95 in the first phase. even 160 is for such a party, where people from all over the world come months before to work for free, just alright. if you would have paid every hour working that is given into it, it would be 300 per person.
this festival is about a global consciousness for a better future and not only about munching pills and stumble around. healing area, ambient forest, sacred fire area, a cinema with workshops and great movies, theatroom and an awesome landscape around the festival, this is more than 80 nations, melting on a 4quarter beat.
my motto in boom: live off-rhythm, but in beat.
if you buy yourself organic shampoo, shower in the lake, five people, one taxi (a lot waiting in front of the entrance, after festival was running), is about 5,- per person to get to idanha and back again.
BOOM became to big for this magic place, they should move to somewhere else, back in 2000, when i was there the first time, it was smaller and better handable. 35 000 people would have been too much for it and if you have 16 000 presale, you don´t think of another 19 000 to get tickets at the gate, so 25 000 really seemed to be the limit for this place.
i experienced my birthday with the eclipse on boom, this was a very special present and five minutes after my birthday began, the dj on groovy beach played one of my favourite tunes. thanks !
think global, act local, thanks boom !!

the music was the worst i have ever experienced in my whole life. just ultra-dark psy. thats not enough.
it was quite ok on the first day (tuesday) but than it felt, like there was just one dj playing the whole week. always the same kind of uninspired, dark and boring music. this was very very very disapointing for me. i like parties, where the music-style changes slightly.
nevertheless i had a nice week there. an experience i will never forget. but i dont think that i will come back. the boom will grow bigger and bigger and the idea behind it will slowly disappear. it's a pity.
like always there are many different realities and ways one can experience a gathering. i understand also those who say, that they had the time of their lifes.
so i hope for all, that the next boom can meet the expectations of the visitors better than this year. but i really think, that this was my first and last boom. there are thousand of other fine festivals in europe and my motto will be: small is beautiful!
peace and love to all. thank for the spirit i felt every now an then.
and sorry for my bad english.

Thanks to all the people, you are the Boom, I had a great time with all of you.
Music had been amazing for most of the time... I really apreciated all the areas especially the Sacred Fire and all the situations around.
Ambient Forest was so nice.
Great walkings, great dancing... little hidden gardens, a big huge hug to all my friends, old and new ones, they really made it special. Great vibes. Unforgettable.
Unfortunately I've got sick as many others...shitting blood for almost 3 days and high fever had been one of the hardest experiences of my life, especially because I couldn't go anywhere else to be cured. But thanks to all the people who that gave me help and support, I've got safe...
I think people has the right to complain if they got sick because of water at the festival, it is long time I am partying in raves and festivals and for sure never searched for easy and luxury accomodations, but nothing like this happened..and should not happen. We paid the festival and they had to guaratee us to be safe. That's my opinion...
Anyway life goes on, we should learn something more from this.
I hope next Boom will care more of people, even if 100 thousand.
A big hug to everybody, lots of love...light,
take care
